San Fernando Valley : WARM FUZZIES

Area residents are being urged to donate coats and other winter-wear items for distribution to the needy this holiday season.
“Operation Warmth,” launched last year by Calabasas City Councilwoman Karyn Foley, will turn the donations over to the Salvation Army, officials said.
The items are given out at North Hollywood Park and at a United Way facility in Van Nuys during Friday night “soup runs,” in which soup and sandwiches are given free to the needy, said Capt. Troy Trimmer of the Salvation Army.
Collection bins have been set up at Calabasas City Hall at 26135 Mureau Road, at the Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center at 23400 Park Sorrento, and at the Farmers Market in Old Town Calabasas on Calabasas Road. Suitable items include jackets, sweat shirts, coats, gloves, scarves, hats and blankets.
