Fire Causes $20,000 in Damage to Restaurant

A grease fire in the kitchen of China Palace Restaurant in Simi Valley damaged the building at 2752 E. Cochran St. Patrons were evacuated, but no one was injured in the blaze late Monday afternoon.
Flames burned through a wall and up to the attic, but were contained around a duct on the roof. The fire caused about $10,000 in structural damage and $10,000 in damage to the building’s contents.
The Ventura County Fire Department extinguished down the blaze, which started at 4:50 p.m., by 5:13.
