LAGOS, Nigeria — Demonstrators have taken to the streets nationwide in support of Nigeria’s government in the face of mounting criticism over the hanging of nine activists, news media reported Wednesday.
The minister of state for foreign affairs said Nigeria will not stand down in its feud with the world. “At the end of the day, truth will save us,” Idrissu Hassan Kpaki said.
In the past, the military regime has organized rallies to show solidarity.
Nigeria has been under attack since Friday, when playwright Ken Saro-Wiwa and eight associates were hanged on murder charges.
