COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Concordia Routs UC San Diego in First Round

Mike Tolmaire led six Concordia players in double-figure scoring with 15 points as the Eagles defeated UC San Diego, 87-67, in the first round of the Redlands tournament at Currier Gym.
Jeff Putnam had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Greg O’Hagan scored 13 points for Concordia (2-3), which led 41-17 at halftime.
In another tournament game:
Chapman 70, Hamline (Minn.) 67--Pete Sverkos scored 18 points on seven of 11 shooting and grabbed six rebounds as the defending tournament champion Panthers won their first-round game.
Jim Falletta added 11 points and seven rebounds for Chapman (4-0).
In the first round of the Golden State Athletic Conference preseason women’s basketball tournament:
Concordia 94, Azusa Pacific 83--Angela Sather had 20 points and Melissa Ridge had 16 for the Eagles, who won their first game of the season after four consecutive losses in Alaska.
Biola 71, Southern California College 57--Holding a slim lead after the first half, Biola turned it on in the second half, outscoring SCC by 10 points.
