AIDS Orphans

Thank you for publishing the heartwarming story of Catherine Nambudye by John Balzar, “In Uganda, a Scourge on Families” (Nov. 18). Thank you for the understanding that in the midst of the AIDS disaster there are signs of hope, even as you say a marvel.
Over the past few years the AIDS Widows and Orphans Project has been funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development through a grant to World Learning, which implemented an orphans program in Uganda. On behalf of Catherine and all the children and young adults in Uganda who are benefiting from this program we wish to thank the American taxpayers and in particular the taxpayers of Los Angeles for their generous assistance.
