Does Column Support Foes of Abortion?

Re “Lifesaving Option or Criminal Conduct?” (Nov. 26): Robin Abcarian has finally made plain what anti-abortionists have maintained all along: Abortion kills babies.

Her heart-rending column describing the killing of deformed babies made the case that it is all right to kill the babies so long as we think we have a good reason--the reason most often being that the baby’s birth will make someone unhappy. It’s OK then, to buy happiness for the family at the cost of the abortion.

A couple singing to the lifeless body of the baby daughter they have paid a doctor to kill is a poignant picture. However, a culture that sanctifies the killing of a child as the sacred right of parents and the sacred duty of doctors has descended to a new low in human perversity.
