This Center Can Use Help, Too
We would like to commend you on the excellent service you provide by periodically publishing the “What You Can Do to . . . “ page in Life & Style (Dec. 1).
However, you omit one of the most helpful services for homeless people in the city, St. Joseph Center for the Homeless in Venice. Its director, Rhonda Meister, is a great person. The center has a cafe called Bread & Roses where the homeless can go for a shower and new clothes in preparation for a job interview.
St. Joseph Center was started in the ‘70s when the homeless population was a fraction of what it is today. It accepts donations of all used clothing, furniture and much needed funds. Instead of sending a holiday gift this year, maybe your readers would like to put this worthwhile center on their lists.
