HemaCare Files Antitrust Suit Against Red Cross
- Share via
HemaCare Corp. has filed a suit against the Los Angeles region blood service of the American Red Cross alleging antitrust violations and unfair competition.
The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in the Central District of California, alleges that the American Red Cross gives its customers preferred pricing if they buy at least 90% of each type of blood product from the Red Cross.
HemaCare, a blood products company based in Sherman Oaks, alleges that these are unfair business practices and that it compels customers to buy blood products from the Red Cross at higher prices than HemaCare charges.
A spokesperson for the Red Cross denied the allegations.
