Truck Mishap Threatens Homes

STUDIO CITY — Police evacuated two hillside homes Wednesday afternoon after a city garbage truck slipped partially off a rain-slickened road and dangled above the houses, Los Angeles police said.
The truck’s right wheels slipped over the side in the 7300 block of Caverna Drive about 1:30 p.m., LAPD Sgt. Woody Iddhi said. As city tow trucks tried to pull the truck back onto the roadway, police evacuated the two houses directly below, Iddhi said.
About 4 p.m. the truck was back on the road, and police let the residents reenter their homes, Iddhi said.
