Litton Wins Navy Contract to Build Assault Vessel

Litton Industries, a Woodland Hills defense electronics and shipbuilding concern, said it has been awarded a U.S. Navy contract to build an additional ship in a new class of amphibious assault vessels.
Litton’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division in Pascagoula, Miss., received the $795.4-million contract for the construction of LHD 7, the seventh ship in the Navy’s WASP Class of multipurpose amphibious assault vessels. Four of six ships in the class that Ingalls previously received contracts to build have been delivered.
