Palmer Williams, 79, a documentary filmmaker who helped create television’s historic “See It Now” and “60 Minutes.” A native of Tenafly, N.J., Williams spent World War II working on film documentaries, including Frank Capra’s Academy Award-winning “Why We Fight.” He later joined CBS to help develop Edward R. Murrow’s radio show, “Hear It Now,” into the TV version, “See It Now.” He also was a director, producer and reporter for CBS News and, for the 15 years before his retirement in 1981, was senior producer and managing editor of “60 Minutes.” On Monday in New York of cancer.
