Thanks for your reminder last Sunday of those Rock and Roll Hall of Fame artists that have not won a Grammy (“Hey, It’s Bob Newhart! Crank It Up, Man!,” by Steve Hochman). You left out the Everly Brothers, who were elected the first year into the hall and have not won a Grammy.

Why am I not surprised that in four full pages of “Grammys ‘96” last week, there is nothing devoted to jazz! The only exception is a “backhanded compliment” to Neal Hefti, who won for the “Batman” TV theme.
After all, our collective intelligence has brought us to a time when blowing things up in movies is a high art form and someone like Pat Buchanan is a serious contender for heading the body politic.
