Waves Snap Fullerton Streak

Mark Lopez’s fifth-inning grounder scored Rob Reid with an unearned run to give Pepperdine a 1-0 victory over top-ranked Cal State Fullerton in a nonconference game Tuesday night at Fullerton.
The victory snapped Fullerton’s 15-game winning streak. Pepperdine improved to 12-9 and the Titans dropped to 15-2.
The run was set up by second baseman Jerome Alviso’s wild throw to the shortstop while trying to force Reid at second, which allowed Reid to take third base.
Left-hander Randy Wolf, a former El Camino Real High standout, improved to 3-1. He struck out seven, walked three and allowed four hits in seven innings.
Two of Wolf’s strikeouts came with the bases loaded in the second inning.
Eric Brubaker worked 1 2/3 innings to earn his third save.
The victory avenged a 5-4 loss to the Titans on Feb. 7.
