7 Council Candidates to Debate the Issues

MOORPARK — The first and only political forum allowing Moorpark’s seven City Council candidates to debate is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday
The candidates are running for the seat left vacant when former Moorpark City Councilman Scott Montgomery resigned last October after pleading guilty to felony and misdemeanor conflict-of-interest charges.
The candidates are Gary Lowenberg, 39, a sales manager for a school and city bus manufacturer; Michael Wesner, 47, a legal consultant and former planning commissioner; Mike Carlin, 51, a program manager and retired Marine Corps officer; Joe Catrambone, 64, a retired marketing executive; Chris Evans, 38, a businessman; Bill La Perch, 72, a rancher and former planning commissioner, and Eloise Brown, 74, a former City Council member.
The forum, sponsored by the Moorpark Chamber of Commerce, will center on issues of growth and development in the city.
Several large housing developments planned for the city are scheduled to come before the council this year. Commenting on some of those projects, the candidates have already given opposing views on how the city should address the growth issue.
The forum will be held at City Hall, 799 Moorpark Ave., and televised on the city’s cable access channel.
