World IN BRIEF : SOUTH ATLANTIC : Chinese Spy Satellite Thought to Be in Sea

Parts of a Chinese spy satellite reentered the atmosphere late Monday in an area about 1,000 to 1,500 miles off the coast of Brazil and are believed to have fallen into the southern Atlantic Ocean, the U.S. Space Command in Colorado Springs, Colo., said. The satellite, the size of a small car, failed 10 days after it was launched in October 1993. Retro-rockets designed to send it down to China instead spun it into an uncontrollable orbit.
