Pierce Claims Title on Lovato Gem

Pierce College’s Kelly Lovato threw a one-hitter against Irvine Valley in the Brahmas’ 2-0 victory Tuesday in the final of the San Diego City softball tournament.
Lovato (21-4-1), the winning pitcher in each of Pierce’s three victories Tuesday, struck out five and walked three in the final.
BASEBALL
The Master’s 10, Concordia 1--Steve Rogers (4-5) struck out four and allowed four hits for the Master’s (11-19-2) in a nonconference game.
Pierce 8, Rio Hondo 5--Mike Glendenning had two hits and three RBIs, and Harry Kenoi earned his seventh save for Pierce (17-9) in a nonconference game.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
CS Northridge 6, CS Sacramento 3--No. 1 singles player Amy Petersen lost her first set but rallied to defeat Sacramento State’s Selena Jong in three sets in the Matadors’ American West Conference match at Northridge.
MEN’S GOLF
West Coast Conference Golf Championship--Pepperdine made up five shots on runner-up San Francisco in the final 18 holes to win its third consecutive conference championship at the Bayonet Golf Course in Fort Ord.
