Reds’ Closer Brantley Off Disabled List

The Cincinnati Reds got their closer back when they activated right-hander Jeff Brantley from the disabled list and sent outfield prospect Steve Gibralter to triple-A Indianapolis. Brantley had surgery on March 3 to repair a stress fracture in his right foot and was expected to be out three to six weeks.

Kirby Puckett’s vision has improved by half since his last visit to the eye specialist, but it’s still a wait-and-see situation for the Minnesota Twin.
Twin General Manager Terry Ryan learned the prognosis Friday in a telephone conversation with Bert Glaser, a specialist working with Puckett at the Retina Institute of Maryland. “It’s good to hear, but he’s still got a ways to go until you expect him to start working out,” Ryan said.
