Fluor Daniel to Build Dutch Chemical Plant

IRVINE — Fluor Daniel Inc., the principal subsidiary of Fluor Corp., has been awarded a contract by Eastman Chemical, Netherlands B.V., to build a purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The value of the contract was not disclosed. The plant is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 1998.
PTA is a key raw material in the manufacture of polyethylene terephthalate, which is used to produce a wide range of packaging products, primarily beverage bottles.
