Great Western Hires Ex-First Interstate Exec: Continuing its bid to become more “bank-like,” Great Western Financial Corp. announced it has hired the former chief of First Interstate Bancorp’s retail operations to head its branch banking and marketing in California and Florida. Jaynie Miller Studenmund, 41, an 11-year veteran at First Interstate, joined Chatsworth-based Great Western as executive vice president and director of retail banking. Before joining First Interstate in 1985, Studenmund was a vice president for strategic planning and internal consulting at Security Pacific National Bank.
