Dependent Children

In response to Judge Terry B. Friedman’s perspective on child welfare, “Don’t Ax Family Reunification,” Commentary, April 11:

The family reunification policy has mandated the placement of innocent children back into the dysfunctional homes of drug users and child abusers. This has been highlighted by the tragic death of Lance Helms, but there are others who have also died or been seriously injured by this misguided policy. It is imperative that the law be changed to protect these young people.
