Ex-Radio Host Makes Plea: Irvin “Sonny” Bloch pleaded guilty to tax-fraud and perjury charges involving $21 million in investments he sold to his listeners. At a hearing in federal court in New York, the former nationally syndicated financial radio talk-show host told U.S. District Judge Shira Scheindlin that he failed to file personal tax returns from 1991 to 1993. He dodged $410,000 in taxes on income he made from “The Sonny Bloch Show,” six real-estate and investment advice books he co-wrote and other sources, the plea agreement said. Bloch’s plea also settled charges that he lied to Securities and Exchange Commission officials investigating whether he defrauded people who invested more than $21 million in radio stations and wireless cable companies that he controlled. He faces 18 to 24 months in prison when he is sentenced July 18.
