Jim Prickett; Santa Monica College Faculty Chief

Jim Prickett, 54, president of the Santa Monica College Faculty Assn. A professor of history at the college since 1990, Prickett championed the rights of part-time teachers. He had begun as a part-time teacher there himself in 1983, and moonlighted as a secretary in the English department to make ends meet. A native of Chicago, Prickett earned his degrees from San Diego State and UCLA, where he wrote his dissertation on labor history in the United States.
