Police Identify Man Found Fatally Shot

CYPRESS — Investigators on Wednesday identified a man found dead of a gunshot wound to the head as 24-year-old Martin Cornejo Pineda.
A resident walking in the railroad right of way between Holder Street and Knott Avenue discovered Pineda’s body Tuesday morning and called authorities. Investigators recovered a small-caliber handgun at the scene.
The death is being investigated as a homicide.
Pineda has relatives in the Los Angeles area but it is unclear where he had most recently been living, police said.
