SEASON AT A GLANCE: Kim, who specializes in the butterfly and individual medley, is part of a dominant team that is favored to win its third Southern Section Division I championship in four years Friday at the Belmont Plaza pool in Long Beach. Kim placed third in the 200-yard individual medley and second in the 100 butterfly in the section finals last year.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: At the Channel League finals, Kim broke her league record in the 100 butterfly by nearly a second, finishing in 57.63. She also won the 200 individual medley in 2:08.36, touching out teammate Erin Schatz by .01. “I was a little surprised by how well I did,” Kim said. “I just want to keep it up this week.”
