Volunteers / Helping hands : O.C. Library Honors Laguna Beach Friend

The Orange County Public Library system has chosen Martha Lydick of Laguna Beach as its Best Friend of the Library for 1996.
Lydick has served on the board of the Friends of the Laguna Beach Library for many years and was a founding member of the Orange County Library Foundation, which raises money for the 27-branch system.
Lydick recently led a fund-raising effort that allowed the Laguna Beach library to operate six days a week, instead of five.
Officials plan to make the “best friend” award an annual honor.
