Eltron International said first-quarter sales nearly doubled to $19 million from $11.8 million for the same period last year.
Profits, prior to nonrecurring charges totaling $3.2 million, would have been $2.5 million, or 32 cents per share. These earnings were reversed--to a loss of $700,000 or 10 cents per share--by charges related to the acquisition of RJS Inc. and Privilege S.A. during the quarter.
Eltron International designs and manufactures thermal label and plastic card printers, verifiers, software, label media and related accessories for the health care, retail, manufacturing, package delivery, financial services and security industries. The company has corporate headquarters in Simi Valley and additional facilities throughout the United States, Europe and the Far East.
