Voters to Decide on Council Term Limits
Voters will have an opportunity this fall to limit the length of time that a person can serve on the City Council.
Saying they want to respect the wishes of residents, council members voted Tuesday to place the issue of term limits on the November ballot.
Mayor John M. Gullixson said there is strong public support, and “the majority of the council are firm believers in term limits.”
Voters will choose between two proposals. One would set a lifetime limit of three four-year terms on the City Council. The other would limit members to two four-year terms but would allow them to run again after sitting out a full term.
