2-Year-Old Drowns in Family Pool’s Spa

ORANGE — A 2-year-old boy drowned Thursday in a family pool during an outdoor party to celebrate an older sibling’s last day of school, police said.

The boy, who was not identified, was discovered about 6:45 p.m. in the spa portion of the family pool by his grandmother, said Orange Police Lt. Joseph Garcia.

“He was apparently left unattended for just a very short time,” Garcia said. The child, who lived in the 100 block of North A Street, was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana but died a half hour later, Garcia said.
