Man Shot to Death by Assailant on Bike

A man on a bicycle shot and killed a 25-year-old Santa Ana man Wednesday night in what investigators believe was a gang-related confrontation.
Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 700 block of East Walnut Street about 9:20 p.m. Wednesday, Sgt. Dick Faust said. When they arrived, they learned that neighbors already had taken the victim to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital of a gunshot wound to the upper torso, Faust said.
According to witnesses, the victim--who police say was a known gang member--was walking on the sidewalk when he was confronted by a man on a bike who pulled out a gun and fired, Faust said.
