LAPD Stats

* The Los Angeles Police Department has a statistical problem not only with the number of crimes reported but also with the type of crimes it reports. In the Oakwood section of Venice, our major crime concerns center around drug sales, use and possession.
I would be happy to have even statistically flawed reporting but this classification of crime, which most Americans view as crime problem No. 1, goes unreported, making it impossible to judge whether or not the hard-working cops in our area are even making a dent in the problem.
As part of the current effort to bring community-based policing to Los Angeles, the LAPD should correctly report statistics for those crimes that the community judges to be its biggest problem.
