Today is the final day for women to sign up for free breast exams and mammograms being offered for the first time at the Ventura County Fair.
Low-income women who don’t have health insurance and who are at least 40 years old are eligible for the one-day screening, which takes place Tuesday. The screenings are by appointment only.
The exams are offered by the Tri-Counties Breast Cancer Early Detection Program, a state-funded service that operates year-round in Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.
To make an appointment or for more information, call 643-4694 or 526-3009. To contact the program after the fair, call (800) 511-2300.
