Coach: Fletcher Olson (second year).
1995: 14-7, 6-4 in the Sea View League; lost to Palos Verdes Peninsula in the Southern Section Division Division I quarterfinals.
Key returners: Emily Barker, No. 1 doubles, Sr.; Katie Canright, No. 2 singles or No. 1 doubles, Sr.; Vanessa Godbey, No. 1 singles or No. 1 doubles, Southern Section doubles quarterfinalist with Canright, Sr.; Erica Nelson, No. 3 singles, Jr.; Erica Palm, No. 3 doubles, So.; Heather Porter, No. 3 doubles, Sr.; Brooke Taylor, No. 1 doubles, Jr.
Key newcomers: Audra Adams, doubles, Fr.; Sarah Barker, doubles, Fr.; Kristin Case, doubles, Fr.; Amanda Collopy, doubles, Fr.; Chelsea Godbey, doubles, Fr.; Amy Lesley, doubles, Sr.
Outlook: The Sailors don’t have a nationally ranked singles player but they might have the deepest team in the Sea View League. Godbey, Canright and Nelson give Newport Harbor three strong singles players and Barker and Taylor will be tough to beat at No. 1 doubles. If the Sailors are going to pass Corona del Mar and Woodbridge in the Sea View League standings, Olson’s young doubles teams will have to come through.
