Lobbying Group Formed: More than 40,000 small-business owners have united to create the S-Corp. Assn., a lobbying group headquartered in Washington. It represents 1.9 million business owners nationwide who operate as state-registered corporations with limited liability but tax rates like those of individual taxpayers. For the last three years, the group was known as the S-Corp. Reform Project. It sought various regulation changes, many of which were signed into law by President Clinton last month as part of the small-business tax package. The group next year will seek tax breaks for business owners who keep a portion of their earnings for business operations, said association President Robert Blair. Information: (202) 265-1403.
