OUTLOOK

Because of the Mariners’ seven all-league players returning from a league title team, most coaches have picked them to win the Garden Grove League again. Craven surprised everyone last year by abandoning the ground game and letting Stern throw the ball. With four senior receivers to choose from, no one should be surprised if Pacifica fills the air with footballs again. Stern should surpass last year’s total of 1,818 yards. LeVeaux (439 yards), one of the league’s most explosive backs, gives Stern a nice alternative in the backfield. The defense has two three-year starters--Campos and Yoast--in the secondary and the entire defensive line returns. A weakness might be linebacker, where all three starters are unproven players.
