OUTLOOK

For all practical purposes, Rehling’s first season gave him a good indication of how much work it takes to be competitive in the league. With only 12 lettermen returning, Rehling and Marina need another year of Sunset schooling before being able to challenge Esperanza, Los Alamitos and Fountain Valley. Although the Vikings are two-deep in skill position players, there is plenty of inexperience. Brown--who threw only 13 times last season, completing seven for 54 yards--probably will start at quarterback although he will be pushed by Austin (who completed two passes last season for 14 yards). Ryan Daguro will be among those trying to replace Mike Williams (1,485 yards, 13 touchdowns) at running back. Not only are the offensive and defensive lines small, there is little depth. More than anything, Marina has to figure how to stop teams. Only twice last season did they limit an opponent to fewer than 10 points.
