In an otherwise interesting review by Laurie Winer, your theater critic, regarding the origins of Italian commedia dell’arte, mention is made of a soi-disant playwright, Carlo Goldini (“Funny Thing . . . ,” Aug. 15).
For the record, the name is Carlo Goldoni (1707-93), famed as the father of modern Italian comedy.
