Although they never got on the ice, some of the King players said Friday was the toughest day of camp. Then, glancing the direction of Coach Larry Robinson, they reconsidered.
The Kings had conditioning tests Friday and the only ones smiling were the ones who were finished. The battery included testing for percentage of body fat, oxygen intake, leg strength, bench presses, sit-ups and strength of grip.
The consensus was that the stationary bicycle to test leg strength was the most difficult. The players rode the bike for 30 seconds, but the bicycle was given measured resistance according to the player’s weight after the player had started pedaling as fast as he could.
The Kings plan to administer the tests three times this year to monitor the players.
