In nonleague Southern Section games:
Highland 29, Banning 17--Camy Smith threw for 189 yards and two touchdowns to lead Highland (2-0). Smith, who was 13 for 26, hit Chris Smyers on a 95-yard touchdown pass play in the second quarter and John Gambill for an eight-yard score in the third.
Highland opened the scoring on a 44-yard interception return by Will Demps in the first quarter. Demps had two interceptions and also caught six passes for 67 yards.
