LAST SEASON: Neipp established herself as one of the top dozen runners in the state at any level by finishing second in the Southern Section Division I championships, third in the State Division I final and 20th in the West regional.

WEEK AT A GLANCE: Neipp posted a season-opening victory in the senior girls’ race of the Seaside Park Invitational at the Ventura County Fairgrounds. Her time of 17 minutes 27 seconds over the three-mile course was three seconds faster than that of Yucaipa’s highly regarded Kimi Welsh in the junior race. “There were a lot of good runners in this meet and I wanted to prove that I could run with them,” Neipp said. She did better than that.
