Evergreen to Buy Bay Area Radio Stations: Evergreen Media Corp. said it will buy three San Francisco stations from Brown Organization, a closely held operator of radio stations based in Los Angeles, for $115 million. The transaction is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 1997, said the company. The San Francisco stations, KKSF-FM, KDFC-AM and KDFC-FM, broadcast smooth jazz, children’s and classical music programming. San Francisco is the fifth-largest radio revenue market in the U.S., Evergreen said. Irving, Texas-based Evergreen owns or manages 42 stations in 11 markets, including L.A., New York, Chicago and Washington.
