WEST HILLS — El Camino Real High held Chaminade without a touchdown and shut out the Eagles in the second half during a 10-8 victory Friday night at Chaminade.
The Conquistadores scored first on Jared Maiden’s 24-yard run after recovering Steven Woo’s fumble on Chaminade’s first play from scrimmage.
El Camino Real drove 70 yards in 10 plays to add Philip Graham’s 29-yard field goal with four seconds left in the half.
Runs of 32 and 24 yards by quarterback Aaron Fredette, who gained 65 yards in 16 carries, highlighted the Conquistadore drive.
Chaminade (1-1) was nearly as stingy defensively, holding El Camino Real without an offensive touchdown and keeping the Conquistadores (1-1) out of the end zone in the second half.
Eagle running back Mathew Markis had 82 yards in 14 carries. Woo, who had four touchdowns last week against Poly, was limited to 16 yards in nine carries.
Chaminade got field goals of 24 and 32 yards from Brian Kaye, and took an 8-7 lead on a safety when the Conquistadores snapped the ball out of the end zone on a punt.
