Various Artists, “The Concert for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” Columbia. (**)

Iggy Pop has a truly Hall of Fame-worthy time charging through Willie Dixon’s “Back Door Man,” and sparks fly in the Bruce Springsteen-Jerry Lee Lewis teamings. But otherwise, these two discs from the hall’s inaugural lack once-in-a-lifetime moments. Instead we get a hodgepodge of Hall of Famers (including James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Bob Dylan) and mere mortals with nary an essential performance between them.
