Ortiz, from Huntington Beach High, isn’t afraid to go against larger opponents. He normally competes in the 190-pound class but moved up to heavyweight Wednesday and won a 10-0 decision over Rancho Santiago’s Jim Ambriz to give the Rustlers a 22-19 victory. He went back to 190 for the North/South all-star match Saturday and pinned Nathaniel Nash of Modesto to improve to 16-0.
