Jenn Detmer
SCHOOL: Thousand Oaks
SPORT: Volleyball
YEAR: Senior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Detmer’s season seemed to be finished Sept. 30, when the Stanford-bound middle blocker was diagnosed with mononucleosis. She missed 10 matches, but played in four of the final five regular-season matches and all three matches last week in the Southern Section Division I-A playoffs.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Detmer made 57 kills and 23 blocks as the Lancers defeated Crescenta Valley, Buena and Saugus to advance to the I-A semifinals. Her playoff averages--4.75 kills and 1.92 blocks per game--have fueled Thousand Oaks’ somewhat surprising postseason run. “We just keep going,” Detmer said. “Nobody ever pictured this. This team has gone through so many injuries and then to go out like this is crazy. It’s Cinderella.”
