Re: “Absolutely Gorge-ous” (Nov. 10): Based on a cross-country trip I took early this year, I feel that the writer gave incomplete information regarding the cabins available on Amtrak.
Her description obviously refers to a standard cabin whose passengers must share a shower in the sleeping car. She failed to mention that Amtrak also has reasonably priced deluxe cabins that are very comfortable and contain washbasins and private toilet/showers. [According to an Amtrak spokeswoman, deluxe cabins are $628 round trip to Flagstaff the first weekend in December; standard rooms, $474.]
She should also have described the lounge car with its glass dome, which is available to all sleeping-car passengers and a wonderful feature of the Amtrak train.
