Clipper update--The Clippers have lost six consecutive games. They held their first seven opponents under 100 points but have given up more than 100 points in their last two games. They were 0-2 with guard Darrick Martin and center Stanley Roberts in the starting lineup. Guard Brent Barry, who sat out the first 14 games because of a thumb injury, has shot 38.4% and averaged six points and 10 minutes in two games since being activated.
Hornet update--They had won five of their last six games before Monday night’s 107-97 loss at Utah. After giving up an average of 103.4 points on 48.9% shooting last season, the Hornets have given up 94.7 points a game this season under new Coach Dave Cowens. Former Laker center Vlade Divac, who had 14 rebounds in Saturday’s 94-87 victory at Milwaukee, is averaging 13.6 points and 9.1 rebounds.
