Nicolas Junior High School students recently donated $6,201 to a local businessman who has cancer, but no medical insurance to cover chemotherapy treatments.
Nicolas Principal Steven E. Keller said the students wanted to help Paul Codispoti, owner of Giovanni’s Pizza parlor, cover his hospital bills in gratitude for all that he’s done for the school.
Codispoti “always gives us free or reduced-price pizza,” Keller said. “If we need something catered, he gives it to us practically for free. He donates prizes for fund-raisers. He employs the kids who need money to go on field trips. He’s a real sweet guy.”
Other local schools, organizations and individuals who also benefited from Codispoti’s generosity have raised more than $10,000 for him.
