Waves Hurt by Turnovers Against Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Pepperdine stayed close for much of the game, but was hurt by 19 turnovers Friday night in a 77-64 defeat by Syracuse in the first round of the Carrier Classic.
Bryan Hill scored 17 of his game-high 25 points in the second half for Pepperdine (1-5), which was worn down by Syracuse’s inside play.
Otis Hill scored 21 points for Syracuse (5-3), which will meet Eastern Michigan in the final tonight.
Syracuse made 15 of its first 35 shots and led, 36-31, at halftime. Pepperdine shot only 35.5% in the first half, making only three of 14 three-point attempts.
Marques Johnson had14 points for the Waves.
