Clothing Drive for the Needy Gains Support

A Los Angeles County welfare worker’s efforts to collect new shoes and coats for needy children this Christmas has prompted a wave of offers from the public.
A story in The Times’ Saturday Metro section detailed her attempts to make sure that a thousand poor children in Los Angeles County would have new shoes and a new coat by Christmas.
The efforts of the woman, who was identified only as Grace because she did not want her name publicized, are being sponsored by the Variety Club of Southern California: The Children’s Charity.
