Woman Dies Fleeing Fire

PHILADELPHIA — A woman jumped to her death as a fast-moving fire swept through a four-story apartment house Thursday in West Philadelphia, authorities said.
Five male tenants of the Sherwood Court apartments were injured in escaping the smoke and flames, police said. The speed with which the flames spread led fire authorities to declare the fire as being of suspicious origin.
